Theatre of Epidavros

One of the first medical and spiritual centers the sanctuary was built to honor Asklepios the demi-god of medicine.

As the sanctuary became more and more popular the area was built up to accommodate the influx of people. A wonderful theatre was built for the visitors’ entertainment. The famous theatre of Epidavros is one of the best kept theatres and even today ancient plays are performed during the summer months.

Not forgetting the two small museums on site holding finds from the sanctuary and a display of costumes and artifacts from the theatre.

The site is in spectacular and serene surroundings lending a peaceful and tranquil setting.
